The G.I Parade

There was shouting and laughing everywhere. The whole of Glen Inness were waiting for the parade to begin. Me my mum, dad and my sisters were all waiting.

Yes the parade was starting. Me and my dad were waiting right in front so we could take really good pictures.

Everyone was shouting and cheering it was crazy. The more closer the parade got to us the more louder the people cheered.

First we saw the St Pius Samoan community, the only colours we could see was red and blue as the Samoan communities passed us.

Then we saw these Chinese dancing dragons they were awesome and colourful.

Other countries started pouring in like Tonga, Fiji also India and all sorts.

The parade was over and people started leaving. In no time Glen Inness was back to normal.

My favorite part was when I saw the dancing dragons from china.

John Coakley's last mass

On a windy Tuesday morning Room 7 of Saint Pius X School attended the funeral of Mr John Coakley. He is the father of our principal Mr Coakley. The funeral was at St Michael Church in Remuera.

In the church, we waited quietly for the mass to begin. I was getting very impatient. I started to chat to the person next to me.

Finally the the mass began. We stood up for the opening hymn. I saw our parish priest Father Iosefa walked pass us. I didn’t expect to see him but it was great for him to come.

Mr Coakley went up to share the urology of his father. He looked very sad. I felt sorry for him. Everyone surely felt the pain that he felt when he finished his speech.

Yes, it was communion time. It is our turn to sing the communion hymn. I felt nervous. I am sure I was not the only one feeling nervous. The guitar strum and we sang. I noticed the whole church was watching us. I tried not to look at them. I kept on singing. At last we finished. I saw heaps of people smiling including the teachers that came with us. I hoped we helped comfort Mr Coakely and his family.

The final hymn was sung with the coffin of Mr John Coakley was carried down the aisle. I still felt the sadness when I walked out of the church.

Homework or no homework

Firstly my opinion is there should be homework because I go to school to learn and whats better than to learn more at home.

Homework can show my parents what I am actually doing at school and to show I go to school for a reason not to waist time.
Homework helped me with my vocabulary, maths and now even more It could help me increase in my writing and get a clearer understanding of it.

I could get a better a future and a good university scholarship but I need homework to complete it.

RACE FOR LIFE

Yes! It’s athletics day. The day of fun and sometimes sadness. The St Pius children gathered in to their groups Keas,Geckos,Tuis and Kiwis. Athletics is a time to kick back. To chill, and to RACE FOR LIFE!

I walked nervously to the starting line.
“OK boys,” said Mr Gaffeny, “on your marks get set. GO!” I ran with fear, fear of coming last. I tried to catch up to the others but that didn't work.
I came last . I walked back to our tar-pollen. I trembled down with sadness.

I felt so useless, I was feeling weak, and dead. felt like I never wanted to move again. But to see the other kids have so much fun I wanted to run and move. The chance has come when I heard Mrs Pole say.... “Can I have Keas & Geckos pleas, for the relay race pleas. It was my time to shine. Finally we were set up to race. I was seventh in line, then sixth, then fifth, then fourth, than third, second. I was next in line, I really wanted to run all the way to the back. I was to late.
I was up and shaking. “GO”!!! shouted the team I bate the person in front of me i turned and I ran back, I felt good. As soon as I sat back in line we were done. everyone was finish.

Although we lost it still felt good to have a little run around.

Best mass ever

It was Wednesday the day of ashes. We, room7 and the whole school sat down and waited for father Iosefa, he lowly started to move as we sang the entrance hymn. Mass has nearly come to an end but father has one more thing to do, the blessing of the net books. every student from yr5
to 8 stood up loud and proud,we were blessed by father with holy water so that we would choose to use these tools for the right reason not the wrong.
